The Country Fire Service has declared a major bushfire in the Adelaide Hills is 95 per cent contained.

Fires have been sparked in other areas of the state, including Bordertown in the east and Streaky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula.

Severe thunderstorm warning for damaging gusts of 90-120km/h across the state.

Thursday - An 80 per cent chance of showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon, and the chance of a thunderstorm. Rainfall up to 5mm.

Light winds becoming northwest to southwesterly 15-25km/h in the morning, then turning south to southeasterly 25-35km/h during the afternoon.
