Interstate forensics helping in SA murder

Interstate forensics officers have been called in to help in a murder case that began when an unconscious man was found next to a dead man in Adelaide.

Mohammad Bashir Rafi, 31, was charged after he was found lying alongside the body of a 60-year-old man on a suburban street in Kilburn in November last year.

At the time police said drugs may have played a role in the death and that the two men, both from Blair Athol, were thought to be friends.

Rafi faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court by video link on Tuesday where prosecutors said they were still awaiting the results of the post-mortem report.

The court heard that interstate input had been sought with the report but was not told the reason why.

Rafi was found unconscious next to the dead man and taken to hospital before he was charged with murder.

He was remanded in custody and will return to court on May 2.
