Investigations are continuing into the online activities of a former childcare worker jailed for 35 years for child sexual abuse and child pornography offences.

South Australian Police Commissioner Grant Stevens says local detectives are continuing to liaise with the Australian Federal Police and other agencies on the case involving Shannon Grant McCoole.

McCoole was jailed last week after admitting to multiple offences while working with Families SA.

The 33-year-old was also the administrator of a global child pornography website, where he uploaded child abuse content, some of which he committed himself.

Mr Stevens said McCoole clearly had a significant role in terms of his online activities, but did not want to elaborate on the nature of ongoing police investigations.

"This inquiry in relation to his online activities is still ongoing so I would be very cautious about saying anything that is likely to jeopardise any future investigations," the commissioner told ABC radio on Tuesday.
