Gun-sellers targeted in SA

Gun-sellers in South Australia whose illegal wares are used to commit crimes face a fast trip to jail under new laws passed in state parliament.

The new offence of weapons trafficking, if those guns are subsequently used to commit an offence comes with a presumption against imposing a suspended sentence and a presumption against bail.

"Those who sell guns to those without a licence should expect to go straight to jail," Attorney-General John Rau said after the provisions passed on Thursday.
