Grants aiming to drop SA power prices open

A scheme to drive down electricity prices in South Australia is underway, with companies now able to apply for grants to help boost gas supplies.

The state government is offering $24 million in grants to encourage companies to extract more gas and supply it to SA, to increase competition and force prices down.

Energy Minister Tom Koutsantonis says the grants are an additional incentive for companies affected by looming gas exploration restrictions in Victoria and NSW to do business in South Australia instead.
