Grant Stevens confirmed as SA's top cop

Grant Stevens has been confirmed as South Australia's new police commissioner.

Mr Stevens, who's currently deputy commissioner, will take the top post when long-serving Commissioner Gary Burns retires on July 21.

He will serve an initial term of five years.

Premier Jay Weatherill said Mr Stevens, 51, was well respected and had accumulated a wealth of experience over 33 years with SA Police.
