Gas leak at Victor Harbor service station

A service station has been evacuated following a gas leak coming from an underground tank at Victor Harbor, south of Adelaide.

Firefighters are directing water onto the leak to disperse the gas at the Hindmarsh road service station, while waiting for technicians to arrive from Adelaide to fix it.

A Metropolitan Fire Service spokeswoman Nicole Ely said eight firefighters responded to an emergency call at 10.20am on Friday.

"A precautionary evacuation of the service station is in place and an exclusion zone to keep members of the public at a safe distance," she said.
