Ex-bikie may avoid assault charges trial

Former Adelaide bikie Vince Focarelli might avoid trial over assault charges after legal negotiations.

Focarelli, who has survived six attempts on his life, and his 18-year-old son Giuseppe are each charged with an aggravated count of assault causing harm over an incident last November.

The pair originally faced kidnapping charges over the same incident but they were dropped in March.

In the Adelaide magistrates court on Friday, Magistrate Bob Harrup agreed to adjourn the matter while prosecutors negotiate a resolution to the charges with the pair's defence lawyers.

Discussions between the two parties had been fruitful and an outcome was expected within the next two weeks, prosecutors said.

The case will return to court on October 14.
