Engagement ring found after theft 13 years ago

A cherished engagement ring stolen more than a decade ago from an Adelaide home has been returned to its elated owner.

The diamond and sapphire engagement ring was taken from a Parkside home during a burglary in 2001.

It was pawned at a second-hand dealer last month, prompting a police investigation.

A 47-year-old woman, who allegedly pawned the ring, has been charged with unlawful possession and providing false information. She will face court at a later date.

After a public appeal the ring’s owner came forward and was able to prove ownership using valuation photographs, the maker’s mark and wedding photographs.

The unique piece was manufactured in 1976 and designed to interlock with a wedding ring.
