Elderly man dragged from car in Adelaide

An elderly man has been dragged from his car in a violent carjacking in Adelaide.

The man, aged in his 70s, was sitting in his car at a Ridleyton supermarket car park at 6pm on Saturday when he was assaulted and dragged from the car by another man who then drove off.

A 33-year-old Croydon Park man was later arrested and has been charged with aggravated robbery, illegal use, driving unlicensed, drug driving and assaulting police after he allegedly spat at the arresting officers.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
