Driver ploughs into Adelaide house

An elderly man escaped harm after a driver accidentally accelerated into a house in Adelaide's west.

The 80-year-old was in another room when the car smashed into the front door and lounge room of his Findon home about noon on Thursday.

A Metropolitan Emergency Services spokeswoman said the crash caused damage valued about $100,000, and some walls had to be propped up by firefighters.

The driver was not injured but was treated for shock.
