A long-serving Adelaide station officer will see his daughter graduate and become one of Adelaide's newest firefighters.

Samantha Lynch will graduate with 17 other recruits on Friday watched on by father Graham, a 34-year veteran with the Metropolitan Fire Service.

"I'm thrilled for her that she's realised her dream and very proud," station officer Lynch said.

Recruit firefighter Lynch said growing up with a firefighter as a parent proved a huge inspiration for her.

"My father's love of his job and commitment to community safety cemented my desire to follow in his footsteps," she said.

"Joining drill squad 49 has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life."

Friday's graduates have been drawn from varied backgrounds, including teaching, disability services, carpentry, photography and even astrophysics.

One returned from active duty with the Royal Australian Air Force in the Middle East three days before joining the 14-week training course.
