Damaging winds forecast for Adelaide

A severe weather warning has been issued for Adelaide and the southeast coast of South Australia.

Damaging winds with gusts up to 90km/h are expected to hit the Adelaide metropolitan area on Wednesday afternoon, with squally showers and possible hail to follow.

Locations which may be affected include Kangaroo Island, Port Lincoln, Maitland, Kingscote, Murray Bridge, Keith and Mount Gambier.

The State Emergency Service says residents should stay indoors and away from windows, move vehicles under cover or away from trees and secure loose items.
