Police sergeant critically injured in Crystal Brook stabbing released from hospital

Brevet Sergeant Ian Todd, one of the two police officers stabbed during a "horrific" attack in the South Australian town of Crystal Brook, has been released from hospital.

Todd was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital with life-threatening injuries on May 3 after being knifed in the neck, hands and arm by his attacker, who was shot dead.

Almost two weeks after the incident, his family today announced he had been released from hospital.

"Ian was released from hospital last night (Monday, May 15) and is now recovering at home with his extended family," a family statement released by police said.

"He is still on the long road to recovery, but we are thrilled with his progress.

"We are so grateful to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia Police, our families, friends and the public for their ongoing support. We are especially thankful for the amazing medical care that Ian has received."

Todd and fellow officer Jordan Allely were both attacked by Sean Ferris, after they checked in on the man's home following complaints about his dog barking.

Allely was also hospitalised in the attack.
