Celebrate not inebriate, SA cop says

As the Guinness and green beer flow, South Australian police have an Irish blessing for those thinking about drink driving.

Whether you're Irish by association or actually Irish, St Patrick's Day is a time of national celebration, according to SA police inspector Billy Thompson who used to be with the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

His advice for enjoying the day is to arrange a lift home before enjoying a few pints.

"As the old Irish blessing goes - may you have the hindsight to know where you've been, the foresight to know where you're going and the insight to know when you've gone too far," he said.
