Drugs linked to Adelaide street death

Drugs may have played a role in the death of a 60-year-old man whose body was found next to an unconscious man in his 30s on an Adelaide street.

The pair were found on Le Hunte Street in Kilburn just before 3am on Monday.

The death of the older man from Blair Athol is considered suspicious because of injuries to his face.

The second man regained consciousness and has been taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

The pair are thought to have been friends and police say they are following up leads suggesting drugs were involved.

"We don't believe that this is an incident where there's someone roaming around behaving in this way," Detective Chief Inspector Richard Lambert told reporters on Monday.

"These two men were known to each other."

It could be a day or more until police are able to interview the younger man and they say it is too early to know whether anyone else was involved.

A vehicle has been removed from the investigation site that may have been used to transport one of the men to the area.

It is not owned by either man and police are yet to speak with its owner.

Inspector Lambert has called for anyone who heard arguing or fighting in the area in the early hours of the morning to speak with them.
