Bikie bans in force in SA prisons

New laws banning bikies from visiting prisoners in South Australian jails have come into force.

Correctional Services Minister Corey Wingard says the changes will make it harder for criminal groups to smuggle drugs into prisons and will help sever the links between criminals and their associates on the outside.

"Bikie gangs and criminal organisations use prisons to recruit new members, who may then go out and reoffend and put community safety at risk," Mr Wingard said on Monday.
