The South Australian man suspected of starting the fire which caused $2 million damage to the Australian Medical Association is expected to be charged with arson.

The fire was lit in a bin in an underground carpark early on Wednesday morning, spreading through the airconditioning units of the North Adelaide building.

On Friday morning, minor structural damaged was caused to a nearby building after a second fire was sparked on a brush fence about 200m from the AMA.

Later that day, a 52-year-old local man was arrested and is expected to be charged.
