Adelaide world's 5th most liveable city

Adelaide has retained its title of the world's fifth most liveable city.

The city made it into the Economist Intelligence Unit's top 10, tying with Calgary in Canada.

Tourism Minister Leon Bignell says Adelaide's quality health and education facilities make it highly competitive.

"Our natural environment - being surrounded by beaches, hills, native vegetation and farming land - also makes Adelaide a wonderful place to live and visit," he said in a statement.

Melbourne was named the world's most liveable city for the fifth year running, while Sydney came seventh and Perth eighth. Brisbane ranked 18th.
