Adelaide's new pair of pandas settling into new home

Adelaide's new panda pair is acclimatising to life in South Australia after the long trip from China.

Yi Lan and Xing Qiu arrived in Australia yesterday, but the public will have to wait a month before it can catch a glimpse of the duo.

"Xing Qiu and Yi Lan are going so well here in Adelaide," zookeeper Arliah Hayward said.

"They've had some of their bamboo that's come over from China and they've actually stopped eating that and prefer the stuff that's growing in Adelaide." she added. 

Yi Lan and Xing Qiu, aged three and four respectively, have yet to meet each other.

The pair still has some growing to do before there's any chance of breeding a baby panda, and Yi Lan will also need time to adjust her cycle to match the seasons here in the Southern hemisphere – a process that could take up to 18 months.
