Historic Adelaide building saved from potentially disastrous fire
Quick work from firefighters has helped to save a historic Adelaide building that was once the city's mail exchange.
Fire crews rushed to Coromandel Avenue, off Grenfell Street, when witnesses noticed thick smoke shortly before 6am.
The source of the blaze was a burning bin and wooden fence. Firefighters managed to contain the flames before they could spread to the building's interior.

"It had some real potential, if it had gone into a glass wall we would have had fire inside the building which would have been pretty serious," Declan Dwyer from the Metropolitan Fire Service said.
Police are now investigating if the fire had been deliberately lit and officers have reviewed CCTV that shows two men in the alleyway around the time the fire started.
No injuries were reported from the blaze.
