Adelaide Crows CEO Steven Trigg jumps ship for Carlton

Adelaide boss Steven Trigg has severed ties with the club after 13 years as the Crows’ chief executive.

Trigg will take over as chief executive at Carlton in Melbourne, replacing Greg Swann who resigned in May.

Speaking at a media conference this morning, Trigg said it was the right time for him to move on.

"It had been in my mind for a while as to the best timing," he said.

"Over the last 12 months we have made an enormous amount of ground as a club - big projects, big jobs and we've signed them off."

Trigg is expect to depart Adelaide by the end of the season, with the club staffers David Noble and Nigel Smart considered frontrunners to replace him.

Adelaide Chairman Rob Chapman confirmed Trigg would depart the club in four weeks.

"Steven goes with our best wishes, from all of us at our club," he said.

"Steven has done an excellent job at our football club, he is an incredible leader and he leaves behind, I think, a marvellous legacy."

A former South Australian National Football League player and coach, Trigg first joined the club 17 years ago.

In 2012 Trigg pleaded guilty to three draft and salary cap breaches and was fined $50,000 and suspended by the AFL for six month. The Crows were also fined $300,000 and barred from the opening two rounds of the 2012 draft over the incident.
