A man has been charged after police officers called to a house fire in western Adelaide stumbled upon a cannabis crop.

Police and firefighters were called to reports of smoke coming out of the roof of the house on Bernard Street, Findon, about 6.45pm on Monday.

When they went in they found a small cannabis "grow room" inside the home.
