A knife-wielding bandit has held up a bubble tea store at Adelaide's Munno Para shopping precinct.

CCTV footage captured the brazen robbery as staff prepared to close the CoCo Bubble Tea store just before 8:30pm yesterday.

The offender entered the store casually, pretending to be a customer, before brandishing a box cutter and demanding cash from the young staff member on duty.

When the employee hesitated, the man threatened to jump over the counter, prompting her to open the cash register.

The offender snatched a few hundred dollars and fled the scene within 30 seconds, leaving the staff member shaken but uninjured.

"It's the first time something like this has happened, so pretty scary of course when you think of it, when you think of the staff, something like this happening, yeah it still gives shivers," store owner Rish said.

He revealed the offender had been waiting outside the store in his car for several minutes, watching and waiting for customers to leave before entering.

Police were quickly on the scene but couldn't find the bandit.
