Aboriginal community in SA escape fire

Eight people have escaped a fire in an Aboriginal community in South Australia, while a heater is believed to have caused a family home to burn to the ground in a separate blaze in Adelaide.

The fire at the Aboriginal community broke out in a building in Davenport, near Port Augusta, just before midnight on Tuesday.

No one was injured and the cause of the blaze was unknown, fire authorities said.

Meanwhile, a home owner and two children escaped unharmed before a house in Smithfield Plains, in suburban Adelaide, was destroyed by a fire believed to have been started by a heater.

In another incident, an electrical fault was believed to have set a cafe in Gawler, north of Adelaide, on fire early Wednesday morning.
