Rare SA bike stolen from former pro

A former professional cyclist is devastated after his $22,000 bike - one of only two in Australia - was stolen from his shop.

Glen Matulich, the owner of Trak Cycles in Adelaide and a former professional cyclist, says the handmade Italian Cipollini-brand bike was stolen while in for repairs on Tuesday.

"I've been pretty upset about it ... I really want it back, it's my own bike," he told AAP on Wednesday.

"If it was just another bit of stock, it'd be covered by insurance."

A man stole it in front of a staff member but rode away before being caught.

But Mr Matulich said he was confident the bike's uniqueness would make it easy to track down.
