Thirteen South Australians have been infected with meningococcal disease so far this year, including one woman who died, SA Health says.

Chief medical officer Professor Paddy Phillips said the cases ranged from two children under one, to a 72-year-old.

"We have also sadly seen the death of a middle aged woman from meningococcal disease earlier this year," Prof Phillips told reporters on Friday.
