South Australian police car damaged in pursuit of stolen truck

A police pursuit in Adelaide has come to a dramatic end after a stolen truck crashed into a police 4WD.

South Australian police pursued the truck through Adelaide’s northeastern suburbs this morning, after it failed to stop.

Road spikes were deployed and the vehicle was eventually cornered by police cars before crashing into an unmarked police 4WD on Payneham Road about 9am.

Police also allegedly found a rifle in the vehicle.

Another police car sustained major damage during the chase and police were earlier urging motorists to avoid the intersection of Montacute, Glynburn and Payneham roads.

At least one, unrelated, car was also damaged.

It is believed the chase started on the South Eastern Freeway.

Police said the driver of the truck was arrested and had been taken to hospital.
