With less than six weeks to the South Australian election, the Labor and Liberal parties have jumped on jobs and in-fighting claims in their bid for a March 15 win.

The Liberal Party launched a new TV ad called Labor Self Destruct focusing on outgoing senator Don Farrell's attempt to enter SA parliament being thwarted after the premier threatened to resign in protest.

Premier Jay Weatherill launched a website which calculates how many public service jobs it says will be cut under a Liberal government, based on how much is needed to be spent on their election promises.

The Liberal ad says 27,000 jobs had been lost in SA in the last seven months, "but Labor only care about their own jobs".

Premier Weatherill on Tuesday told journalists that every Liberal party around the country had said they would not cut jobs, but when elected they did.

He said the Liberals would have to cut 9,974 jobs to fund its current election promises.

The premier also released a new government public sector policy which he said provided job opportunities for young people in disadvantaged areas and performance pay for chief executives.

A red tape reduction initiative would ask the community to suggest ways to make government services more responsive to their needs.

Opposition treasury spokesman Iain Evans later responded to Labor's website calculator on costing the Liberals' promises.

"Premier Weatherill cannot be trusted when it comes to costings or announcements - just last month a damaging leak designed to undermine his besieged leadership revealed a massive $400 million budget blowout in only 51 days," he said.
