The builders of South Australia's new Royal Adelaide Hospital are being taken to court by the state government over a series of delays.

The new RAH was due to reach technical completion in April and then May, but SA Health Minister Jack Snelling says he still doesn't know when the SA Health Partnership (SAHP) consortium will finish the job.

He says the government has run out of patience and will ask SA's Supreme Court to enforce SAHP's contract, with the matter likely to be heard next week.
