SA caravan thieves come unstuck

An attempt to steal a caravan in Adelaide has come unstuck with the van abandoned by the thieves after it crashed.

Police say the Island Star van was taken from a front yard at suburban North Haven early on Tuesday morning.

The thieves hitched it to a car and headed for the Port River Expressway to make their getaway.

But at some stage it came unhooked, careered across the road and ended up on its side.

A police spokesman says the offenders didn't bother to stop.
