A kangaroo’s hilarious attempt to free its head from a chip packet after it became trapped while digging around in a bin has been captured by a bystander.

Video of the unfortunate roo’s efforts, filmed at Serpentine Falls, Western Australia, was uploaded to YouTube account of Glenn Turner in June last year, but only surfaced recently.

It begins with the cameraman circling a bin to find two roos loitering behind it. One looks up to reveal its head has become ensnared in a Cobbs Popcorn packet.

The animal begins hopping to and fro, wrestling frantically with the packet, trying to free itself, while the cameraman pursues, clicking his tongue to draw the confused roo’s attention.

“No don’t go to my car,” the cameraman can be heard saying, moments before the roo runs headfirst into the wheel of a parked car.

Eventually, after a minute or so of stalking, the cameraman succeeds in seizing in whipping the plastic packet off the roo’s head.

“There you go buddy,” he says, as the roo looks around, clearly confused.

“Would have helped sooner if it's mate didn't look like it wanted to Muay Thai kick me,” the video’s caption reads.
