RSPCA NSW has lowered pet adoption fees across the state to just $29 as part of its Clear the Shelter event, which will run from tomorrow until Sunday.

The event is a “desperate” effort by the animal advocacy organisation to rehome all of its  shelter animals, including cats, dogs, to roosters, doves, sheep, horses, guinea pigs and rabbits.

“There’s no better time to find your new best friend!” the Clear the Shelter official website reads.

Pets with a standard adoption fee of $29 or less will be given away for free during the event.

All animals come vaccinated, wormed and checked by a veterinarian to ensure they are in optimal health, and all dogs, cats, rabbits and male guinea pigs are desexed.

Many of the pets have been in the RSPCA’s care for weeks, with some having awaited adoption for more than 100 days.

Anyone interested in taking on a new pet as part of the scheme is encouraged to visit an RSPCA NSW shelter, Care Centre or NSW Petbarn or visit the RSPCA Adopt a Pet website.
