Photographer behind iconic royal family snaps sets sights on Gold Coast

Renowned royal photographer Matt Porteous has set his sights on the Gold Coast.

While known for capturing iconic images of the British royal family, he is about to premiere a short film on ocean conservation.

Porteous has enjoyed an almost decade-long tenure documenting the Cambridges, from Prince Louis' christening in 2018 to Prince William and Princess Catherine's week-long tour of the Caribbean.

"The work that they do for wildlife and nature, and also people, and looking after the next generation is very inspiring," he said.

"It really pushes me on to work harder."

Porteous also has a passion for the ocean, and recently captured a rare moment, snapping a white humpback calf off the coast of Tonga. 

"It's probably the rarest thing that you can see in the ocean," he said.

The successful snapper has now brought his portfolio to the Gold Coast, telling local stories in a short film.

"It's really about looking after the people that are on the coast and wildlife and nature within it," he said.

The yet-to-be-named project will premiere at HOTA on the Gold Coast on Thursday night.
