Former NSW police officers Roger Rogerson and Glen McNamara have pleaded not guilty to the murder of a 20-year-old student.

The men, who were arraigned in the NSW Supreme Court this morning, also pleaded not guilty to supplying 2.78kg of the drug ice.

It's alleged they shot Jamie Gao twice in a storage unit at Padstow in Sydney's southwest before wrapping his body in a tarpaulin, shoving it in a surfboard bag and dumping it in the ocean last May.

Gao's body was found a week later 3km off Cronulla Beach, and police allegedly discovered about 2.5kg of ice in the back footwell of McNamara's car.

The men will go to trial in the Supreme Court on July 20.

It's expected to last two months.
