A police officer has been injured and six youths were arrested at a train station in Melbourne’s west overnight.

Police were called to Sunshine Railway Station just before 10.30pm following reports of a large gathering of youths.

Police recognised two men believed to have been involved in a brawl, and four others understood to have been involved in a robbery, in St Albans on Christmas Eve and December 19 respectively.

As the officers began arresting the six male suspects, one of the other teens began throwing rocks.

One officer from the Public Order Response Team suffered injuries.
