Man in hospital after jumping off multi-storey car park to escape police

A man has been rushed to hospital after leaping off a multi-storey car park on the Gold Coast while running from police.

Police were doing routine rounds at Robina Town Centre around 3.30pm when they spotted a man wanted for a number of property offences.

The man saw officers at the same time they saw him and took off on foot before plunging the four storeys off the car park into a garden bed.

He attempted to continue on foot but was unable to, having suffered shoulder and leg injuries, and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

Police anticipate they will charge him upon his release from hospital.
