Soldier critical after near-drowning at Darwin army barracks

A soldier is in a critical condition in intensive care in Royal Darwin Hospital, after a near drowning incident at the Robertson Barracks swimming pool on Sunday.

The Defence Department confirmed an incident at the pool, issuing a statement saying local emergency services responded to the Barracks.

The soldier was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains.

It's unclear what caused the incident.

The Defence Department wouldn't release anymore information about the soldier without their written consent.
