Robbers smashed their way into store to steal $21,000 of luxury clothing

Police have released CCTV images today showing robbers ransacking a Melbourne luxury clothing store last month as the demand for illegal luxury items surges.

Three masked intruders targeted the store at Chapel Street in South Yarra early on Monday, March 10, and made off with items worth $21,000.

Events began at 3am when a black hatchback pulled up outside the unoccupied shop and the trio jumped out.

They gained entry by smashing a window and then ransacked the store to find valuable clothing, including t-shirts worth $160 and hoodies that sell for $300.

The robbers loaded the stolen goods into the hatchback and then sped off.

Police say the offenders are believed to be aged in their late teens or early twenties and were all wearing hoodies and facemasks.

Investigators wish to speak to anyone that was in the area at the time of the burglary and can provide information about the black vehicle.

The robbery was part of a series of smash-and-grab raids on high-end fashion shops in Melbourne over past weeks.

Early yesterday, a vehicle smashed through the window of the Fendi store on Collins Street.

Criminals have also targeted the Dior store on Collins Street and the Louis Vuitton outlet in the Crown Melbourne casino.
