Three people have risked their lives on top a Surfers Paradise high-rise rooftop – 130 metres above the ground – for a photoshoot.

In video filmed by a holidaymaker in a nearby hotel room, a couple and a photographer can be seen atop Chevron Towers.

At one point, the photographer walks dangerously close to the edge, before the couple follows suit.

The man, who wanted to be identified only as Anthony, said he and his family watched with bated breath.

“If the wind had picked up a bit it would have been very easy for a quick drop to the bottom,” Anthony told 9NEWS.

“We just can’t get over the stupidity of it.”

The trio were removed from by building security. How they managed to gain access to the roof is being investigated by building management.
