Nixon accused of kneeing cop while in court for assault
Former AFL agent Ricky Nixon may face a fresh assault charge for allegedly kneeing a police informant while leaving court after a hearing over a different assault.
The 60-year-old appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday after being charged on summons with unlawful assault and discharging a missile.
Police allege Nixon threw "a missile namely Australia Post package to the danger" of a man in Port Melbourne on March 10, 2022, and that he assaulted the man, according to court documents.

Nixon's lawyer told the court he claimed he was acting in self-defence and will fight the charges at a hearing later this year.
She requested the contested hearing be held in November because Nixon had employment commitments.
Nixon then told Magistrate Malcolm Thomas he would be doing "health checks in the community".
But the magistrate rejected this and told him most people have to fit in their work around court requirements.
A police prosecutor later told the court that Nixon had "kneed the informant" in his case, as he exited the court room.

Mr Thomas said it was up to the prosecution to decide whether they want to charge Nixon with another assault.
He will return to court on September 6 for a two-day hearing.
