'I can't believe I did that': Today's Richard Wilkins introduces Aloe Blacc as 'Aloe Vera'
Today's entertainment editor Richard Wilkins has made an embarrassing on-air gaffe this morning - introducing R&B star Aloe Blacc as "Aloe Vera".
Wilkins was introducing the "I Need a Dollar" singer, who was on the show promoting the launch of his new album Lift Your Spirit.
"Aloe Vera ... I mean Aloe Blacc. I can't believe I did that, sorry," Wilkins said before Blacc began his performance.
Earlier this month the Today host sparked outrage in New Zealand when he referred to Kiwi singer Lorde as as “Australasian”.
“Billboard magazine just named their most influential people under 21 in the business, 21 of them, number one, the Australasian Lorde came in number one, how good’s that,” Wilkins said.
The clip drew the ire of presenters on New Zealand TV station TVNZ.
“That is so cheeky and straight-faced as well,” one of the hosts on Breakfast said.
“It’s going to be World War III between us and the Aussies.”
