Richard Pusey behind bars after allegedly throwing items at police

Richard Pusey has wound up back behind bars after he allegedly threw objects at police when they responded to an early-morning noise complaint at his home.

The former mortgage broker, who was recently released from jail after serving a 10-month sentence, fronted Melbourne Magistrates' Court today, charged with four counts of assault police and two counts of stalking.

The 43-year-old appeared before the court wearing a 'Fake News Sells' T-shirt.

The court heard he allegedly assaulted police by hurling objects at them after officers were called to a noise complaint at his Fitzroy home around 4.15am.

Detectives later returned to search the property.

Pusey has also been accused of stalking a person between May 2020 and September this year.

He allegedly threw cat litter, faeces and food items in and around the alleged victim's property and kept the alleged victim under surveillance using CCTV.

Today was not the first time police have been called to Pusey's home since he was released from prison on 25 August, with neighbours calling police after hearing shouting and loud music last week.

Pusey's lawyer told the court that he needed to have access to his medication while in custody, saying he had experienced issues with his mental health in the past.

Pusey was previously jailed for charges related to outraging public decency, after he filmed and mocked four police officers as they lay dying after a fatal Eastern Freeway crash on April 22 last year, as well as other driving offences.

He had been pulled over for speeding in his Porsche when a truck swerved into the emergency lane, killing the four police officers.

He was released on August 25, and called for a "royal commission" into the tragedy.
