Review launched into corporate crime fight

Corporate crooks could face tougher penalties and watchdogs could have wider powers as a result of a review by the Australian Law Reform Commission.

The review, due to report in April 2020, will consider reforms to the criminal code and other relevant laws to provide a "simpler, stronger and more cohesive regime for corporate criminal responsibility", Attorney-General Christian Porter said on Wednesday.

"This includes consideration of any practical challenges to investigating and prosecuting these crimes," he said.
