Man charged with attempted murder after woman thrown from inner-city Sydney balcony

A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly throwing a woman from a unit balcony during a domestic dispute in inner-city Sydney.

Just before 9.30pm last night police were called to an apartment block on Morehead Street in Redfern following reports of a domestic incident occurring.

When officers arrived, they found a woman in her 30s had been thrown from a first-floor balcony, sustaining factures to several bones.

The injured woman was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.

Shortly after, police arrested a 45-year-old man inside a unit in the building and took him to Redfern Police Station where he was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder.

The accused was refused bail and is due to appear at Central Local Court today.

When police were attending the incident, a 34-year-old man – unrelated to the domestic dispute – began attacking a police car with a cricket bat.

That man was also arrested and was taken to Redfern Police station where he is expected to be charged with malicious damage.
