Redback spiders attack a pair of snakes

A group of redback spiders have proven size doesn't matter after trapping and attacking a pair of snakes.

The remarkable footage shows a group of spiders attacking the baby snakes after they became trapped in the arachnids' web.

Dongara, Western Australian resident Jennifer Fox posted the footage on the Western Australian Insects Facebook group.

"We had come down to move in more of our belongings and when we opened the door to the shed their (sic) were dozens of baby snakes caught in webs," she said.

"Some were still alive and the harder they wriggled the more entrapped they came."

Ms Fox shot the footage last year when she and her husband first moved into the property.

In 2012 Cairns resident Ant Hadleigh witnessed a similar scenario in his backyard when he captured footage of a golden orb spider attacking a brown tree snake

"I thought it was pretty incredible," he told The Cairns Post.

"I would have put my money on the snake for sure, especially seeing how big it was."
