Red-bellied black snake slithers up to Sydney CBD pub
A red-bellied black snake has slithered its way up to the front door of a pub in the heart of Sydney's CBD.
The venomous reptile was probably feeling a little lost when it was discovered lurking on the footpath outside The Morrison Bar & Restaurant on George Street, just after 1pm.
Several bystanders took photos and video as the snake slithered around outside the pub, and a snake handler was called in to take care of it.
"According to the snake handler who came down, it is incredibly rare to see this kind of snake in the city." the pub's marketing manager Marissa Demetriou told 9news.com.au.
She said the snake was badly injured and was being taken to a vet.
"It would appear someone has attempted to hit it with a shovel, hence the injuries staff noted when we first spotted it," she said.
