Rapist snatched girl outside Victoria home

A balaclava-clad rapist snatched a teenage girl from outside her Victorian home and marched her at knifepoint to an abandoned school.

Shannon Leigh Aitken, 39, saw the 16-year-old as she walked home after a night out with friends then walked ahead and lay in wait for her.

He grabbed her by the throat and forced her into the schoolyard in Hastings, on the Mornington Peninsula, where he repeatedly raped her on March 4, 2012.

Prosecutor Joanne Piggott said Aitken's crime was premeditated and brutal.

"She was alone, in an isolated place and extremely vulnerable," she told the Victorian County Court on Wednesday.

The girl said she sleeps with the lights on since the attack.

"I suffered every woman's worst nightmare," she said in a victim impact statement read to the court.

"I was taken at knifepoint at night outside my home."

The balaclava made identifying Aitken impossible for the victim, and he was not arrested until eight months after the attack.

Aitken has pleaded guilty to three counts of rape.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual penetration of a child under 16, relating to separate incidents in 2000.

Aitken, currently being held in the Melbourne Assessment Prison, had sex with two 14-year-old girls after befriending them in Hastings.

Barrister Stephen Galvin will deliver Aitken's defence to the court on Friday.
