Newcastle streets flooded in sudden afternoon storm
Newcastle streets have been flooded after a storm of heavy rain this afternoon.
Video of the storm shows parked cars swamped by rain and city roads awash with swift-flowing water.

The Bureau of Meteorology told nine.com.au the heaviest falls were recorded at Macquarie College, where 74 millimetres fell between 3-4pm.
At the Lookout Road Reservoir location, 64.6mm fell in the same time.
And the Wallsend Bowling Club endured an intense fall of 34.2mm between 3.15-3.45pm.

However, BOM said the storm cell had moved out to sea, though a regional warning remained in place.
The NSW SES confirmed they had received calls for flooded homes and businesses, some fallen branches, and some requests for sandbags, with crews from Newcastle, Singleton and Maitland embarking on 56 jobs since midnight.
