Rachel Griffiths poses for intimate hotel artwork

An intimate portrait of home-grown Hollywood hit Rachel Griffiths has been revealed, and it’s not the result of a hack.

A hand-drawn portrait of the star was today unveiled in Melbourne, based off a photograph taken inside a room at The Olsen hotel by Griffiths’ daughter, Adelaide.

"I love that there are no lines on my forehead… It's gorgeous," Griffiths said of the drawing.

The unveiling is part of Art Series Hotel Group's "No Robe" campaign, which invites guests to pose for nude portraits in their rooms and have them brought to life by artists to promote the arts.

Purpose-built cameras allow guests to pose in private, before the photo is sent to the Art Series’ team of artists to translate onto a canvas.

"Drawing is a very authentic way of recalling a moment," Griffiths said.

"I can see why (this) is impossible for some people with an artist they’ve just met.

"The work might reflect that discomfort which is not what you want in a nude, but the technology is the instrument that to separate that feeling of self-consciousness."

The sketch of Griffiths was drawn by Mark Schaller, the namesake artist of the Group’s Bendigo hotel.

"Encouraging drawing is, for me, the wonderful thing about this project," Schaller said.

William Deague, CEO of Art Series Hotels, said guests should be reassured their nude selfies would remain private.

"When guests sign up to the package, it’s very clear that it’s a secure camera and the whole process will never be released to the general public," he said.

The campaign runs until June 15.
